Gov. Dave Heineman today issued a statement following the advancement of LB 1020 which includes a provision for the state to accept federal Unemployment Insurance Modernization Act (UIMA) funds.
"I am pleased that the Legislature agreed with me that a long-term tax increase as a result of accepting this funding was unacceptable. Commissioner Lang has assured me that the business-labor proposal will not increase taxes. As a result, I plan to sign LB 1020 into law when it reaches my desk."
